| "It is hard to leave a situation and do everything as a single parent. The WRC gave me a ray of hope."
|
The objective of the Single Mothers Program is to enable each parent to realize her full potential for personal and professional growth so that she can, in turn, provide for the successful development of her children. Additionally, the program provides mothers a chance to share experiences with others.
The Single Mothers Program provides mothers with resources available to them in the community and helps them learn ways to build networks that support their role as parents.
Each client is interviewed prior to the group sessions so that the program is tailored to meet the needs of each family. Parent input helps to create a curriculum with multiple topics for discussion. The mothers gain a sense of connection in relationships, social service resources and economic/educational opportunities.
The Program is offered twice a year, in the spring and fall. Topics Include:
- Goal Setting
- Parenting Skills
- Financial Management
- Legal Options
- Problem Solving
- Decision Making
This program enhances each mother's awareness of information and community resources available to assist her family.
Women interested in this program should call the center or check out the Parenting Support page.
